When Light Enhances the Experience
In a sector where every detail matters, lighting plays a silent yet decisive role. With this in mind, a renowned automotive showroom in Greater Lisbon set out to elevate the visual and aesthetic experience of its exhibition area through a complete renovation of its lighting system.
The goal was simple yet ambitious: to create an environment where each vehicle would be enhanced by the right light, highlighting lines, colors, and textures, and offering visitors a truly immersive sensory experience.
Before: functional light, but lacking emotion
Until then, the space was lit by a conventional system made up of industrial high-bay fixtures. Although they fulfilled their basic purpose, these luminaires presented clear limitations: the light distribution was uneven, the visual impact low, and the vehicles’ details were not properly emphasized. This aesthetic mismatch in an automotive exhibition compromised both the perceived value of the vehicles and the overall sense of quality within the space.
Recognizing the crucial role of lighting in both customer experience and product presentation, the distributor Welight entrusted KATOA with the development of a complete lighting solution—one that combined efficiency, aesthetics, and high technical performance.
A new lighting concept, designed down to the last detail
The first step was a detailed lighting study using DIALux software. At this stage, we simulated different lighting configurations and precisely evaluated the ideal light distribution for the space. This study considered the showroom’s volume, predominant colors, surface materials, and, naturally, vehicle placement.

Through these simulations, we were able to define a strategic and efficient lighting plan focused entirely on the visitor’s experience. We determined the exact number of luminaires required, their ideal placement, and the optimal suspension height, ensuring balanced luminous harmony and uniform illuminance across the entire exhibition area.
The Scutt100 solution: a high-efficiency awiss army knife
The proposed solution centered on installing Scutt100 suspended linear luminaires, a product line from KATOA designed for spaces with high technical and aesthetic demands. Known for their high luminous output and minimalist design, these luminaires proved to be the ideal choice for the project.
Given the spacious environment, the luminaires needed to deliver both presence and efficiency, capable of filling the space visually without overwhelming it. For this reason, the Scutt100 models were installed with 3-meter suspension cables, allowing the light to fall closer to the exhibition planes without creating unwanted shadows.
With precise light distribution control and a high color rendering index (CRI), these luminaires ensure that every color, texture, and finish shines with absolute accuracy.

The result? A space with its own light
The transformation was immediate: refreshed and modernized, the environment became more inviting, more engaging, and above all, more aligned with the showroom’s brand identity.
The new lighting not only enhances the presentation of the vehicles but also reinforces the sense of sophistication and care the brand conveys to its customers.
Visually, the difference is striking:
- Before KATOA’s intervention, visible dark zones and an undefined atmosphere where the lighting did not support the perception of vehicle shapes and colors.
- After: a space with depth, brightness, and uniformity—featuring a luminous atmosphere that invites visitors to explore every detail.
The DIALux lighting simulation presented during the project allowed us to predict the behaviour of the light with precision, ensuring the final result matched the initial concept. This simulation also served as an essential tool for optimizing the number of luminaires, avoiding waste, and ensuring maximum energy efficiency.
Efficiency With Real Impact
Beyond its visual impact, the new lighting solution brings significant gains in energy efficiency and sustainability. Scutt100 luminaires incorporate state-of-the-art LED technology, ensuring low consumption and greater durability, translating into simplified maintenance and a tangible medium-term economic return.
The renovation of this automotive showroom’s lighting reflects a modern and conscious vision: light as a strategic element, not only to illuminate but to add value to spaces.

Light that inspires and transforms
This project clearly demonstrates how lighting engineering, when well designed, can be a strategic tool. It is not just about illuminating a space, but about creating an atmosphere that strengthens brand identity, enhances the product, and inspires everyone who walks through the space.
